Sue Blandford | Down Syndrome Victoria | Training & Information Manager


Sue has been involved with the organisation since her daughter was diagnosed at birth with Down syndrome in 1997. For many years Sue was the first point of contact point for families, meeting families shortly after birth to provide peer support and information. She has more recently moved into the training role to concentrate on expanding this service.
Sue has a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, a Diploma of Counselling, specialising in child development; and also has a background in leadership and management training. Sue develops and delivers a range of training and information sessions for families and professionals.

Dani Kohn | Down Syndrome Victoria | Family Support


Dani and husband Chris became involved with Down Syndrome Victoria when they discovered during pregnancy that their baby had Down syndrome. Bodhi, now six years old, is one of three boys in their family. Dani’s professional background is in primary and secondary teaching, performing arts and yoga. Dani has recently joined the DSV team and provides support and information both prenatally and for families with young children up to age 17.

Yvonne is passionate about helping people with a disability to enjoy full and inclusive lifestyles. Yvonne has personal, family experience of physical and intellectual disability. With a background in Disability Employment workplace support and a wealth of training experience.

Education

Ian Cook | Down Syndrome Victoria | Education Consultant


With a background as a primary, secondary and special education school teacher, Ian has been supporting students with Down syndrome and inspiring their teachers and families for more than 15 years. Ian’s role offers practical support, advice and information to students with Down syndrome, their families, teachers, aides and schools across Victoria; achieved through goal setting, program planning, curriculum advice, learning strategies, behaviour strategies (enhancement), professional development, support at PSGs, school selection, transition, loan of and advice regarding relevant resources.

Sheree O'Connor | Down Syndrome Victoria | Education Consultant


Sheree is an experienced primary school teacher who has worked in mainstream classroom environments and in the coordination and delivery of learning support programs. She has also provided advocacy and support for children and families to assist in meeting the educational and social needs of students. Sheree’s previous role was as Education Coordinator with the Ronald McDonald Learning Program (RMLP), providing professional support and information to students with special needs or a serious illness, their schools and families. Sheree joined the Education Support Team at Down Syndrome Victoria in January 2016.

Jan Alexander | Down Syndrome Victoria | Education Consultant


Jan has extensive teaching experience in primary schools both in metropolitan and regional areas. For the past eight years Jan has lectured in Teacher Education at La Trobe University. Her study and work in schools has been very focused on inclusive learning strategies. Jan has worked closely with teachers and support staff in developing classroom programs which enable all students to reach their potential. Jan joined the Education Support Team as a regional educational consultant in January 2016 and is looking forward to sharing her experience working with teachers, students and parents in regional schools across Victoria.
