** CORONAVIRUS UPDATE **
At Down Syndrome Victoria our focus is and will continue to be the safety and wellbeing of our members, community and staff.
We are monitoring the advice from the Department of Health and DHHS regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) daily and watching the situation as it unfolds. In Victoria the current risk of contracting coronavirus is low, however we have seen the situation rapidly escalate in other areas such as in NSW and overseas. As a result, and after careful consideration of the current advice, it is with deep regret that we are announcing the postponement of some DSV events and activities.
- Inclusion in Practice Education Conference Monday 16 March
- Family Fun Day Sunday 22 March
- Remaining Club21 Term 1 activities and events
- Positive Behaviour Support Bendigo Tuesday 24 March
We recognise that this outcome may be very disappointing for our community, as it is for us. We’d like to stress that this decision has not been made lightly and we thank you for your understanding and support in what is an unprecedented time.
Some factors that have impacted our decision making include:
- The remote, but potentially high impact risk of one of our more vulnerable community members contracting coronavirus at one of our events.
- The advice from the health department regarding taking measures to slow down and contain the spread of the virus, and our public responsibility to support this effort.
We will continue to monitor advice and the evolving situation with consideration to other activities such as:
- MyTime activities
- Education Support visits
- Family Support visits
We would like to reassure you that DSV has established plans to remain available to members and the community should this situation escalate further and we will keep our community updated. We are also investigating options to run our planned workshops online so stay tuned for further details.
For more information please call the office Monday-Thursday on 9486 9600 or email email@example.com.
This page is updated regularly so please continue to check in. We hope to see you at a DSV event soon.
