Down Syndrome Victoria provides support, encouragement, information and resources to families who have a member with Down syndrome. Our Family Support, Adult Support and Education teams are available for 'not so new' parents who may want to talk to someone about a particular issue they may be facing with their child such as skill development, starting school, specific health issues, employment, accommodation.
We are committed to a model of peer support and empowerment to build resilience in people with Down syndrome and their families.

Join one of our closed Facebook groups
Social media now offers another way to connect with us and with many other fellow Victorian families.
Our closed groups are open to Victorian parents of children with Down syndrome or those pregnant with a baby with Down syndrome who have decided to continue the pregnancy. We currently have two groups:
Down Syndrome Victoria Parents
Parents of Adults with Down syndrome
Our groups are mediated by DSV Support Staff and were specifically created to encourage peer support, information sharing and to empower families and to create positive expectations of our children and adults. Please feel free to share your fears and joys, highs and lows, current information and news.
We welcome those that are new to the journey, and those that have walked it for years.
Down Syndrome Victoria believes that families have the right to feel supported in their choices no matter which paths they choose. We aim to provide balanced, researched information so that families can make informed decisions about how to best raise their child/ren within the context of their family unit.
Please note: Those wanting to be added to this group will need to be known to the organisation (new families need to have had prior contact with Down Syndrome Victoria).
