Mainstream or special school? What is the difference and what does inclusive education really mean? This evening is opportunity to address important issues when making decisions about a school for your child with an intellectual disability.

Prof Roger Slee, Director of The Victorian Institute for Education, Diversity and Lifelong Learning at Victoria University

Roger went to school in the town of Hamilton. He was a teacher in secondary schools before starting work in a teaching unit for disengaged and disruptive students. He has been a Dean of education faculties in Australia, England and Canada and was the Deputy Director General of the Queensland Ministry of Education. Roger is the Founding Editor of the International Journal of Inclusive Education and his most recent book is called The Irregular School.

Ian Cook, Down Syndrome Victoria Education Consultant

Ian is a primary school, special education, and secondary school teacher who has been working as an educational consultant to teachers, education support personnel and families concerning students with Down syndrome for the past 15 years.
